Haroonabad is situated 48 K.M. in the south from Bahawalnagar (HQ).Haroonabad came into existence in 1934 under irrigation plan of Satluj Valley. Before 1934, it was named as Badru Wala Tibba and later on was renamed as Haroonabad by Nawab Ameer of Bahawalpur , Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan. It was upgraded as Town Committee in 1936, Sub-Tehsil of Tehsil Fortabbas in 1949 and upgraded as Tehsil / Sub Division in 1974.
